We like puzzles for the same reason other people like crosswords or long walks: for a few minutes, the world has an answer.

The Logical Thought began with a simple notion. Reasoning well is not a talent you are born with. It is a set of small moves, like checking an answer, asking what would prove you wrong, or counting real things instead of juggling percentages, and anybody can get better at them.

What you will find here

The Notebook holds logic puzzles with complete worked answers, a growing field guide to common fallacies, and short explanations of the probability results that surprise everyone. We write for curious people, and no formal training is needed.

The shop

The shop sells shirts, mugs, posters, notebooks and other goods for teachers, students, puzzle people and anyone who enjoys a well-placed therefore. Each design is ours, and each item is made after you order it, so nothing piles up in a warehouse.

What we promise

• We show the working, so you can check it.
• We keep this a politics-free zone. Our examples involve bulbs, cards and bad movies.
